5 Words of the Work Week (August 17-21)


Goal: Fit word of the week into common conversation. 


Robust (Adjective) – Strong and healthy; hardy; vigorous:

Example: The Italian cuisine was known for its robust chicken alfredo.


Derivative (Noun) – A substance that can be made from another substance

Example: Ice is a derivative of water.


Monotonous (Adjective) – Lacking in variety; tediously unvarying:

Example: The monotonous teacher, had the students taking notes daily.


Nostalgia (Noun) – A sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations.

Example: The soldier felt a feeling of nostalgia, when he arrived back from war.


Refractory (Adjective) – Resisting control or authority : stubborn, unmanageable.

Example: The coach sat the refractory superstar because he would not pass the ball.
